From lesameryl via
Twitter: What do you think about Sasha Cohen and Vancouver? Can
she make the team? Can you? (note
- this was the most popular question, but we're only asking
Kimmie once).
Kimmie:
I'm excited that Sasha will be coming back. She is always fun
to compete with and I've watched her since I started, so it's
exciting to compete with her. I think we all have a shot this
year. Pretty much, it's whoever can pull off the best program
that night, so it will be very exciting!
From Sydney:
What was your most interesting experience with a fan?
Kimmie:
I have had so many! I love my fans : ) I think one of the best
was when I first started to 'make it' in the skating world, I
had a fan from China. She was my pen pal for 3 years and would
send me all of these really cool things from China. In return I
would send her some US things. It was so cool because I believe
she was one of my first international fans that I knew of.
From Queen:
Exactly how many pets do you have? Heard you had a zoo! Must be
tough being away from them.
Kimmie:
Haha, it is a bit of a zoo! Well, we have two dogs - Tucker and
Kane - and one cat - Ozzie. My brothers cat is Samson and he
used to live with us also.
From Leah: Hi
Kimmie, will you be competing in Vancouver Olympics? If so, are
you nervous about Sasha or Michelle Kwan coming back?
Kimmie:
I hope to be competing. It's going to be tough, but I will make
sure that I do all I can to at least go for them. I want to
know that I tried and gave everything I had. That would be
success for me and if I make the team, even better :D. haha.
I'm excited to hear they may come back.
From Elena:
Kimmie I love your skating! I wanted to ask you if you ever get
tired of answering questions for interviews and/or questions
from fans?
Kimmie:
Thank you!! No, I honestly don't. I love to hear what you all
have to say and I try to answer them the best I can. The only
ones that I get enough of are 'if you are going to the
Olympics'. It's a hard question because you have to qualify, so
no one knows.
From Sarah: What advice do you have for beginner skaters?!
Kimmie:
My advice would be to not give up. It can be frustrating to
learn a new jump or move, but one day it all just clicks and
that is the best feeling. As long as your love for the sport is
there, then you are doing the right thing.
From Joe:
What has been your favorite dress that you’ve worn so far? And
what color is your favorite to skate in? Do you have a good luck
color?
Kimmie:
I think my favorite dress was the one I wore my first year
senior. It was blue and I love blue! However, the one that I
wore for the Olympics and Worlds is a close second because I
also love red! I like really rich colors or nice soft ones.
From
Christian: Dear Kimmie, I was wondering. What brand of tights
do you wear? Danskin, Capezio, or any other brand? I think
you're beautiful in any kind. Meanwhile, I hope you make it to
Vancouver for the Olympic Games. Good Luck
Kimmie:
I wear Danskin.
From Deb:
When I watch Kimmie skate, I'm always really inspired, and
sometimes I think I almost feel the unrestrained emotions she
projects. So my question to Kimmie is, when you were learning to
skate, which skaters made you think/feel this way about their
skating - and then what was it like when/if you met them?
Kimmie: Thank you so much! I always felt that way when I
watched Michelle. She was my hero growing up and still is!
When I met her I think I was in shock. haha. I could not stop
giggling, but she was super nice and has been very helpful to me
in the past few years.
From Laura:
Has there been a jump (or jumps) in particular that you have
been working on in terms of jumping technique in your training?
What other elements of your skating have you been working on to
try to improve for the upcoming season? I've been a big fan of
yours for a long time Kimmie, and I'm looking forward to seeing
you back in competition this season. Good luck and I'll be
rooting for you! : )
Kimmie:
Thank you! I have been working on everything, mainly just
getting consistent and confident again. I've also worked a lot
on my emotions and skating quality.
From
Stephanie: You wear a lot of jewelry when you skate. Can you
describe what you wear and why? Do they have special meanings?
Kimmie: I wear a necklace that has a bunch of charms that people
have given me. They remind me of my loved ones and all the
great times I've had. I always wear it when I skate : ) I used
to wear a bracelet that everyone thought was a watch. It used
to frustrate me to no end to have people asking why I needed to
tell time out there! haha. Just fyi it was a bracelet with my
initials on it. haha. Oh and I wear earrings. I love
jewelry. hehe
From
Jennifer: What if you win the Olympics? How will you react?
What if you don't?
Kimmie:
Oh my gosh! I can't even think that
far ahead, but I would be incredibly happy and probably wouldn't
be able to stop smiling and laughing!!!
From Laysha:
Will you be taking time off from school to focus on your skating
in hopes of making the Olympic team? Best of luck this season,
Kimmie!
Kimmie: Thanks : ) I will probably still take a class or two.
I took off a few semesters ago and I really missed school, so I
think that I will still take at least one.
From Deb:
What will you do once your competitive skating career is over?
Will you stay in skating (dress designer, coach, choreographer
etc.)?
Kimmie:
I honestly don't know. I hope I will be able to tour with Stars
On Ice and graduate from college. I want to go into physical
therapy or become a trainer. I love learning about the body and
I think it's amazing to help someone feel/get better.
From Laura722 via
Twitter: Kimmie, have you started thinking about what type of
dresses you want to wear for your programs this year?
(color,design,etc)
Kimmie:
I somewhat have, but mainly I've just been training. My long is
Romeo and Juliet so it will have to be from that time period.
From Laura722 via
Twitter: The U.S. ladies field is crowded with skaters, esp. w/
Sasha back, and there are only 2 spots. What is your plan,
besides skating well, to get one of the spots. Any new training
techniques, jump combinations, etc, to gain an edge on your
competitors?
Kimmie:
My plan is to train my brains out so when I go out there I can
just relax and enjoy the moment. I can't control the judges,
but I can control how I skate.
From Ice-Skate.net: Your Twitter page is very popular. Did you
ever imagine that it would be when you signed up? Do you mind
keeping in touch with fans in this way?
Kimmie:
Haha, I'm so excited that my page is popular!!
I'm not that interesting, hehe. I love that I'm able to keep
in touch with fans this way. I always love to hear from them
and they have all supported me so much. The least I can do is
keep them up to date.
From Ice-Skate.net: As
skating photographers, we try to shoot the most flattering
photos of skaters that we possibly can (avoiding mid-jump shots,
crotch shots, etc.). What do you think about associated press
photographers who seem to only shoot photos in unflattering
angles and positions and then publish these photos on the web
and in print? Have you ever seen a photo of yourself that you
absolutely hated?
Kimmie:
Oh my gosh, I really don't like the ones where I am mid jump or
spin. I make such a strange face and it is just not pretty. hahaha. I have this whole program of nice positions, but the
picture will be a position not even at its fullest. I think the
funniest one I saw was with a local paper. They came out to the
rink and took pics all day. I assumed they would have some
awesome pictures. The next day when I got the paper, there on
the front page was a huge picture of my skates...and that was
the only one they used! hahaha
From Ice-Skate.net: When you look at photos of yourself on the
ice, what kind of poses and positions are your favorites or are
the ones you find the most flattering? Spirals? Spins? Others?
Kimmie:
Usually our starting or ending positions always look nice.
Spirals too and sometimes the jump or spin ones can look nice,
just not when you are midway to a position. |
